CommunityConnect HealthPlan will now be known as Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Both have shared the same parent company but not the same name.
The name change, said Anthem, is โdesigned to help avoid potential confusion for Anthem members, health care providers and regulators, and to better describe the companyโs comprehensive product offerings across a variety of health insurance programs.โ
โAs people transition through different phases of their lives, itโs likely theyโll move between different types of health insurance coverage,โ said Larry Schreiber, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin. โWe want to make it as easy as possible for them to find the health insurance theyโve come to know and trust, no matter whether theyโre getting that insurance through a government-sponsored health plan, purchasing on their own, or receiving benefits through their employer. Uniting all of our products under the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield brand name will make it easier for everyone to make those transitions and make more informed decisions about their health benefits.โ
In Eastern Wisconsin, CommunityConnect HealthPlan is the trade name used by Compcare Health Services Insurance Corporation for its insurance policies offered through the BadgerCare Plus programs. Anthem said, โIt is important to note that it is only the DBA/trade name that is changing. The underlying company insuring the benefits is โ and will remain โ Compcare.โ
The change is effective July 1.
Anthem said, โExisting CommunityConnect-contracted health care providers have already been informed of the name change. Between now and July, a marketing and advertising campaign will communicate the renaming to the health planโs members and the general public. Letters will be mailed to current CommunityConnect members in early June, with television, radio, outdoor and digital ads supporting the awareness campaign running from May through August.โ
โThe name change to Anthem will not impact CommunityConnect membersโ ability to receive care before, during or after the transition, or to see their established primary care provider or clinic. Current CommunityConnect members with questions about the name change should contact the customer service number on the back of their membership identification cards.โ
