Frontier Airlines has announced a new fee structure that includes a $25 charge to stow carry-on luggage in overhead bins in the economy seating area.
The $25 fee applies at the time of ticket purchase and at web check-in. For carry-on bags purchased at the airport kiosk, agent or concourse kiosk, the fee is $35 for economy. At the gate, the fee is $50 for economy passengers.
The company concurrently announced it will offer just two fare types going forward: economy and classic plus. Classic plus fare includes a refundable ticket, no change fees, extra leg room, a free checked bag and a free carry on bag.
Economy fares have been reduced by an average 12 percent on every nonstop route. The airline, which is based out of Denver, also announced a travel savings club called the Discount Den, through which customers will receive special deals and a $5 savings on the lowest carry on and checked bag prices.
“With an unbundled product, customers can save even more by choosing to pay for only the products that they want, allowing them to customize their flight experience for each and every flight,” said David Siegel, chief executive officer of Frontier Airlines. “With today’s further reduction in Frontier’s amazing low fares our customers will find even greater value and our guaranteed lowest fare when they book at FlyFrontier.com.”
