When it comes to innovation, the co-founders of Patina Solutions – Mike Harris, chief executive officer, and Debbie Seeger, vice president – don’t believe in the cliché of “thinking outside the box.”
“There is no box,” Seeger says.
Their new company resulted from that kind of thinking.
According to Seeger, Patina started business last August intending to become America’s premier employer of “experienced professionals, generally over age 50, who want to continue to contribute through meaningful work.”
Their mission is to provide client companies with talented, knowledgeable and experienced people in flexible, cost-effective solutions that will help them meet their current and coming workforce challenges.
“Patina is not a temporary staffing firm, nor is it an employment agency. We’re a professional services company, a project-based consulting firm designed to enhance the business operations of our clients. We provide talent to all industries and in most functional areas,” Seeger says. “Our professionals are committed to work and provide important and necessary knowledge and skills-transfer to the next generation of up and coming business leaders.”
Patina plans to expand to 25 market locations within the next five years, she says.
“In those markets and across the country, our services will allow businesses to have experienced talent on demand. This is an important solution for them to have as they meet the challenge of coming through and out of this recession. And they’ll have to be more creative about how to grow with more flexible cost solutions. A client gets one of our professionals, who provides thought leadership, skills training, coaching, mentoring or project management. And none of this will add to the company’s overhead and fixed costs,” she says.
Patina’s model is completely flexible, according to Seeger. The company’s clients can engage them for as little as an hour per week, or as many as 40 to 60 hours a week. That flexibility enables clients to be more agile as they react to changes in the economy and grow in uncertain of business climates.
