Medical College of Wisconsin professor receives lifetime achievement award

Dr. Mary Cronin, associate professor of medicine in Rheumatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin recently received the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Lupus Foundation of America, Wisconsin Chapter. The award is the organizations highest honor. This is the first year that the award has been given.

"The recipient of this award must be involved in the organization and in caring for patients with the disease," Sandy Hofstetter, executive director of the Lupus Foundation of America, Wisconsin Chapter. "She has given of herself both as an individual basis as well as on a professional basis trying to develop a cure for lupus through research."

Cronin has been involved in LFA-Wisconsin chapter for over 12 years and also serves as a member of the board of directors. She has been a practicing rheumatologist caring for patients with rheumatic diseases for over 25 years. Dr. Cronin has had many ongoing clinical trials to conduct cutting-edge research and broaden the field of knowledge in rheumatic illnesses, including lupus.

The LFA-Wisconsin chapter’s board of directors chose the recipient and presented the award at its ninth annual Fall Into Fashion Luncheon. Money raised at the luncheon goes towards grant initiatives to support research through the Medical College of Wisconsin as well as other local organizations.
