Other than the obvious health benefits, how has being fit improved your life?

Being fit is a way to satisfy my competitive side.  Working out is also a huge mental and stress relieving therapy.  Working out has also doubled as a way to socialize and be competitive with friends at the gym.  Working out has given me a general sense of health and happiness.

How does personal fitness affect your work life?

I take time out of my day to work out regardless of how hectic things may be.  I feel being healthy and fit is a key ingredient to being sucessful and keeping a sharp mind.  Being fit also gives me greater energy and drive that can be applied towards the companies. If your unhealthy you may have a challenge managing your business for many years to come!

Do you have a corporate health or wellness initiative?

Yes

What health/wellness organizations do you contract with, if any?

We currently do not have a contract with any organizations.  We do share ideas and have contests to promote health, fitness, and well-being within the office.

How does fitness or wellness affect your overall organization?

Having a healthy staff really shows by the excitement and energy levels that is displayed around the office.  We are all very competitive people and like to challange each other on our health, diets, workouts, and deal-making in the office.

What advice do you have for other executives interested in starting either a personal fitness plan or corporate wellness initiative?

Don’t loose sight of how important it is to have healthy, and motivated people within your organization.  Excercise not only promotes a long life and good health, but also will improve productivity of everyone who participates. Taking pride in your staff’s health will also show that you care about their well-being as well as their families.  Most staff goes through a lot of stress, and having a wellness initiative is a good way to help individuals balance the stresses of day-to-day life as well as work.
