Development in the Park East corridor in downtown Milwaukee has been slow, but a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Thursday for the first building to be built in the corridor on a property sold by local government. The ceremony will mark the completion of construction for The Flatiron, a six-story building with 38 condominiums and 2,860-square feet of retail space.
The building was constructed by Legacy Real Estate Development LLC on a quarter-acre, vacant, triangular-shaped property at 1541 N. Jefferson St. that was sold by the City of Milwaukee to Legacy for $230,800 after selecting The Flatiron proposal from among 6 competing plans for the site.
The condos in the building are priced from $179,900 – $319,900, and 18 of the 38 units are under contract, according to Legacy.
For the project Wauwatosa-based AG Architecture designed the building, Brookfield-based Altius Building Co. was the general contractor, Milwaukee-based PDI Planning & Design Institute was the land planners, Brookfield-based Shorewest Realtors is providing sales and marketing services for the condos, The Private Bank provided construction financing and Milwaukee-based Vangard Development Group LLC was the owner’s representative.
