The common stock of Sussex-based Quad/Graphics Inc. will join the Russell Global and Russell 3000 Index when Russell Investments reconstitutes its global equity indexes on June 24.
Membership in the Russell Global Index, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in the appropriate large-cap, small-cap, all-cap indexes, as well as the applicable Russell style, sector and country indexes.
Annual reconstitution of Russell’s U.S. indexes captures and ranks the 4,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May by total market capitalization.
Russell determines membership for its equity indexes primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes. For Quad/Graphics, the inclusion into the Russell Global and Russell 3000 Indexes will also mean that the company will be part of the Russell 2000 Index.
"We are very pleased to now be part of the Russell indexes," said Joel Quadracci, Quad/Graphics chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We believe being part of such a broadly benchmarked index will help increase visibility for our stock and ultimately may help increase trading liquidity. We view this as a key milestone in our evolution as a public company."
Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies. An industry-leading $3.9 trillion in institutional assets currently are benchmarked to them.
