Notable Veteran Executives: Jeff Oestmann

Class of 2024

U.S. Marine Corps, Staff Sergeant

Jeff Oestmann, chief executive officer of Johnson Creek-based Aztalan Bio LLC, has 30 years of experience in the renewable energy and agriculture sectors.

He served 11 years as a staff sergeant (E-6) in the Marine Corps, where he had experience in both active duty and reserves, including roles in the Elite Marine Security Guard (Embassy Guard) at multiple diplomatic posts around the world.

Oestmann was recently elected as the chairperson of the Renewable Fuels Association, a national trade association for America’s ethanol industry. He also chairs the association’s Veterans for Renewable Fuels initiative, “highlighting his commitment to both the renewable energy sector and veteran affairs,” said Yvonne Duesterhoeft, Jefferson County veterans service officer.

At Aztalan Bio, Oestmann has made it a priority to hire veterans, with 15% of the workforce comprised of former service members, according to Duesterhoeft.

“He has written extensively about the contributions of veterans in the renewable ethanol industry,” she said. “His leadership reflects a strong dedication to supporting veterans.”
