The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music has named a new president and chief executive officer.
Eric Tillich, who has run his own consulting firm and held leadership positions at the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and Marian University, was selected by the Conservatory’s board of directors to fill the position.
Tillich will take over Nov. 1.
“Opportunities to lead an organization that has inspired generations of musicians for over 100 years do not come along every day,” Tillich said. “I feel like I have been given a unique opportunity to join one of the most committed and capable teams that is both creative, and eager to guide the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music to its next phase. I am also excited to collaborate and build on partnerships which bring musical excellence to our community.”
Tillich has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in organization, leadership and quality from Marian University.
“We are confident in Eric’s abilities with his extensive experience, his expansive leadership expertise and his ability to generate positive change and to build organizational consensus,” said Bob Banner, former WCM Board chair and Search Committee chair.
The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music was founded in 1899 and functions as the state’s oldest independent, nonprofit community music school.
