Appetite for Life features Zimmern traveling the country and visiting the best places to eat and learn about the city’s culture.

While in Milwaukee, Zimmern visited the famous Usinger’s sausage facilities in Milwaukee, made his own bratwurst and later ate them at the Old German Beer hall on Old World Third Street downtown.

Zimmern describes Milwaukee as the TV home of the Fonze and Laverne and Shirley, but says that, “the charming city on the shores of lake Michigan is best known as the modern American metropolis that is long on old world charm and tradition.”

Zimmern dances the polka at the old German Beer hall and later visits Solly’s Grille, 4629 N Port Washington Road, Glendale, to fry up and try the original Wisconsin butterburger.
