MES acquired by Illinois engineering firm

Waukesha-based Midwest Engineering Services Inc. has been acquired by Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Professional Service Industries Inc.

MES, which provides engineering testing, inspection and consulting, has four other locations, in Appleton, Chippewa Falls, Green Bay and Ripon. The branches will all continue operating as MES. It has 44 employees, all of whom will remain with the company. The company has about $4 million in annual revenue.

PSI provides engineering and testing. It has about $260 million in annual revenues, more than 100 U.S. offices and more than 2,300 employees. With the acquisition, PSI has become the largest engineering, testing and inspection firm of its type in Wisconsin.

Dave Barndt has been promoted to senior vice president, with continuing work in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Matt Henderson will join the Wisconsin leadership team as vice president, supervising all state operations. Jim Becco will become district manager, overseeing Milwaukee area operations.

“I am very pleased that MES management and staff will continue to be part of the leadership team in Wisconsin,” said Murray Savage, chief executive officer of PSI. “In fact, the combination of our two firms and our joint commitment to safety, quality and ethics fits perfectly into PSI’s Information To Build On business model and One Company, One Call service delivery platform.”
