Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Gordon Food Service plans to build a 16,000-square-foot GFS Marketplace grocery store on a vacant three-acre site at 6919 S. 27th St. in Franklin.
The store will be similar to the GFS Marketplace store that opened earlier this year on Miller Park Way in West Milwaukee. There are also GFS Marketplace stores in Mt. Pleasant and Pleasant Prairie.

The GFS Marketplace stores are targeted to restaurants, caterers and other businesses or individuals planning special events. The company has more than 130 stores in the U.S.
