Epic MedSpa, a cosmetic medical treatment facility that was opened recently in New Berlin, is offering topical treatments and rejuvenation options that are less invasive than plastic surgery.
Brother and sister Greg and Alana Erchull and their mother, Christine, own Epic MedSpa, which is located at 3610 Michelle Witmer Memorial Drive in the medical office building in the New Berlin City Center.
The national trend of medical spas offering a mix of spa services and cosmetic medical services is just entering the Wisconsin market, Alana said. Increasingly popular less-invasive options include Botox and Gore-Tex facial implants.
“A lot of people want to use noninvasive procedures to maintain a youthful look,” Greg said.
Alana is a certified medical esthetician and previously worked for a spa offering a similar line of services in Minneapolis. She moved back to the Milwaukee area to start the venture with her brother in their hometown of New Berlin.
“There is a huge need, and Wisconsin is more behind than other areas in this field,” Alana said. “Med spa and salons are everywhere in Minnesota, and there are few places like Epic MedSpa in this area that offer laser, esthetic, injectibles, acupuncture and non-invasive treatment.”
Epic MedSpa practices a more holistic and natural approach to cosmetic enhancements than invasive plastic surgeries, Greg and Alana said.
“We are a cross between a dermatologist and a plastic surgery office,” Greg said.
Alana administers many of the treatments offered, including laser hair reduction using photopneumatic therapy that is relatively painless, skin rejuvenation, chemical enzyme peels, alginate peel-off masks, freeze dried collagen masks, ampoule concentrates and special occasion pimple elimination (SOPE).
Epic MedSpa partnered with Dr. Kevin Robertson, a plastic surgeon who owns Robertson Plastic Surgery, a private practice located in Middleton. Robertson performs the non-surgical procedures that require a physician to administer, including Botox cosmetic, Restylane and Gore-Tex facial implants.
Botox is sometimes seen as an alternative to a facelift, Greg said. Botox is an injected treatment that can smooth facial lines and aid in the relief of migraines, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder and excessive sweating by condensing and contracting muscles.
Restylane can be an alternative to collagen, Greg said. Restylane is an injected gel that can fill in facial lines, help reshape the nose or cheekbones and fill in hollow areas in the face.
Gore-Tex facial implants also can be used as an alternative to plastic surgery. The implants are small, pliable and permanent and are injected to fill larger facial creases.
In addition, Epic MedSpa has partnered with a massage therapist to offer massage and acupuncture services.
Greg serves as chief executive officer of the company, and Alana is president. Greg is also an attorney and co-owns Nikolay & Erchull S.C., a personal injury practice in Milwaukee.
Other services offered by epic MedSpa include eyelash tinting and eyebrow tinting, ear candling and wax hair removal. Ear candling is a procedure that uses a candle to remove ear wax.
As their customer base increases, Alana plans to expand Epic’s services to include body wraps and a Vichy shower.
Epic MedSpa currently leases about 2,000 square feet in the medical office building. Alana hopes as business grows, the spa will have the opportunity to lease an additional 1,500 to 1,800 square feet in the adjacent empty office suite.
Epic Med Spa also offers medical lotions on site that are only available by prescription, Greg said.
The company’s services appeal to both men and women, Greg said.
“We have no specific target market,” Alana said. “Where some target upper class, we have services that target any price range. We are conscious about offering services that everyone can afford and that will help people.”
