- Sheboygan-based Acuity Insurance announced earlier this week it had distributed $500,000 in charitable contributions to six different organizations selected by its employees: Conquer Cancer Foundation, Feeding America, Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County, The Salvation Army, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Mental Health America.
- Menomonee Falls-based Kohl’s Corp. surprised Milwaukee Public School teachers Friday morning with $50,000 worth of AdoptAClassroom.org gift cards. The gift cards will help pay for classroom materials, such as notebooks, pencils, and in some cases clothing for students that teachers may have otherwise been forced to pay for themselves.
- Milwaukee-based Brady Corp. recently gave $50,000 to the national nonprofit organization Playworks to support the group’s programs in three parts of the country where the company has a presence: Milwaukee, Southern California and Massachusetts.
- Historic Milwaukee has received a $20,000 match grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support its annual Doors Open event in 2017. Doors Open gives the general public a chance to tour areas in more than 150 buildings around Milwaukee they wouldn’t normally have access to, for one weekend each year. As a condition of the grant, Historic Milwaukee must raise an additional $20,000 in donations.
