The city of Milwaukee is seeking developers interested in buying a vacant city-owned site southeast of Brown Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The city has issued a
request for proposals in an attempt to sell the 11,250-square-foot site for redevelopment. Interested buyers would need to assemble the four individual parcels on the site, construct a new building and obtain occupancy within 18 months of closing, according to RFP documents.
The new building's ground floor would preferably include general or medical offices, a health clinic, financial institution, business service, retail, an art or photography studio, catering, restaurant or café, and recording studio.
Any upper floors could also contain apartments or hotel rooms, in addition to the listed ground-floor uses.
Proposals are due back by 3 p.m. on Sept. 15, according to a notice from the city. The city is asking $73,125 for the land.
Submissions will be evaluated on price, proposed use, impact on the business community and adjoining neighborhoods and compliance with Historic King Drive construction guidelines, among other things.
