VISIT Milwaukee announces Lamplighter Award recipients
VISIT Milwaukee recognized Cecilia Gilbert, Russ Klisch and Tim Dixon with the 2011 Lamplighter Awards for each of their contributions in helping Milwaukee stand out as an attractive city to visit. All three were honored at VISIT Milwaukee’s annual meeting on July 26 at the Milwaukee Theatre, according to an announcement from the city tourism organization.

Cardinal Stritch names new chairman to board of trustees
Cardinal Stritch University has appointed Thomas Myers as chairman of the university’s board of trustees, according to a recent statement from the university. Myers was vice chairman of the board for a year and has served as member of the board since 2005. He will take over for chairman David Hawke, who has been on the board since 2001.

Harley second quarter profit revs up 30%
Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson Inc. reported that its second quarter profit of $247.25 million, up 29.7 percent from its 2011 second quarter profit of $190.58 million. Diluted earnings per share were $1.07, up 32 percent from 81 cents in the 2011 second quarter.
