The Waukesha law firm of Congdon, Ward & Walden has changed its name to Congdon, Walden, Schuster & Vaklyes. The firm also announced the addition of Karene S. Marchan as an associate. Marchan will be practicing in the areas of guardianships, probate, estate and Title XIX Planning, litigation and family law. The firm continues to maintain its offices at 707 W. Moreland Blvd. in Waukesha.
The WPS Health Insurance Milwaukee Sales and Service Office has moved from its Water Street address to a new office in Schlitz Park. It is now in The Keg House at 111 W. Pleasant St., Suite 110.
Sauceda Sanitation, LLC, a waste hauling company, received its Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification in May. Sauceda’s owner and president, Elia Lemke, is 100% Mexican.
"As far as I know, we are the only woman-owned/Hispanic-owned waste hauling company in this area. This sets us apart, but we are still held to the same standards as anyone else in our business. We have to provide great service, and we do. Beyond that, we are especially helpful to larger contractors who need minority participation on state projects," Lemke.
Minority businesses must be certified by the Department of Commerce to be eligible to participate in the Wisconsin Minority Business Enterprise Program. The program is designed to increase the opportunity for minority firms to sell their products and services to the State of Wisconsin, according to information provided by the state.
"Sauceda Sanitation was born at a baseball game. I was talking to Joe Tate, a friend who has a long, successful career in the waste industry. As an employer, he is always interested in the work pool — where do businesses get qualified workers? Obviously, the Hispanic work pool is growing in the US.
"By the end of the ballgame, I committed to making a business plan for my waste hauling company. Joe was the first person I went to for advice; he was also the first person who wanted to invest in it," says Lemke.
Lemke located her business in the same building as The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin (HCCW) on Eighth Street and National Avenue.
Since the business opened in October 2001, Lemke added one salesperson, Michelle Cloute, and one roll-off driver, Kathy Castro.
The Printery, a commercial sheet-fed printing company, has recently added two versatile mailing production systems to its New Berlin operation. The new equipment provides multi-color, mult-font personalization, variable graphic imaging and other features for mailers, ranging from post cards to multi-page catalogs. The new equipment includes the Videojet PrintMail WideArray System and the Videojet PrintPro Digital Printing System.
The Pewaukee-based franchise of Visiting Angels, a senior homecare provider, acquired Senior Home Helpers, a Muskego-based senior in-home care provider. Visiting Angels provides a range of helpful services to seniors, including light housework, assistance in personal hygiene, meal preparation, shopping and companionship, as well as respite for family caregivers.
The Italian Community Center Ristorante in Milwaukee will be converted into a family-style eatery offering dine-in, carry-out and delivery service, the Italian Times is reporting. The menu would include pizza, sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes and appetizers. Daily lunch and dinner would be maintained, as would the Friday fish fry. The new restaurant will be called Festa Café. The conversion would occur after Labor Day. The center is looking to capitalize on the growing residential population of its neighborhood.
Ding-A-Ling Telephones, a local provider of telephone and communications systems to southeastern Wisconsin for more than 22 years, is now operating under the name Infinity Telecomm, according to Craig Wichman, president. Ding-A-Ling Telephones will remain the firm’s retail division, offering residential and cellular phones from its showroom at 8669 N. Port Washington Rd. in Fox Point.
Dash Inc. in Sussex has released jetStream mfg, a new software package for the streamlined management of manufacturing, according to James Van Hecke, Dash president. The new package attaches to an in-place business or enterprise system with real-time integration to and from that system.
