A Milwaukee-based financial advisor team from Robert W. Baird & Co., Milwaukee, was listed as one of the "Top Advisor Teams in America" in the September issue of Research magazine. It was the only Milwaukee area team on the list. The magazine recognized 41 teams from across the United States. The 13-member Baird team recognized includes Michael Klein, Philip Dallman and Gerald Gerndt, managing directors, and James Schultz, senior vice president of investments. Teams from 100 organizations nationwide were ranked on criteria including productivity per partner, credentials, acceptable compliance records and wealth management focus.
The Counseling Center of Milwaukee
The Counseling Center of Milwaukee (TCCM) named U.S. Cellular Corp., Chicago, its corporate donor of 2005 for its charitable giving program that has supported TCCM’s Pathfinders program for three years.
Waukesha County Technical College
The Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), Pewaukee, received a $750,000 competitive training grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to develop a model for maximizing safety and security efforts at general aviation airports around the country. Under the grant, the WCTC criminal justice department will develop a curriculum and training model that will be replicated across the U.S. for general aviation security and preparedness. The curriculum will also be published in a national database. Curriculum will include training trainers on safety and security measures, developing a community awareness plan for identifying unusual and suspicious behavior for airport personnel and the surrounding community and providing template instruction manuals, handbooks and electronic presentations. The Department of Homeland Security awarded the funding to 15 organizations with an aim to strengthen preparedness training for first responders, public officials and citizens. WCTC was the only two-year college to receive a grant and the only proposal to focus on preparedness training for general aviation airports.
Lakes Area Rental
Lakes Area Rental, Elkhorn, now offers concrete stamping and coloring equipment and supplies from Stampcrete International Ltd., Liverpool, N.Y. The Stampcrete System is a cast-in-place method of creating impressions in concrete, before it hardens, that make its appearance virtually indistinguishable from materials including slate, cobblestone, floor tile, brick and river rock. The new system can be employed in driveways, walkways, patios, pool decks and inside homes or businesses. The Stamping Tools are available for rental, along with supplies that can be purchased for both do-it-yourself projects as well as contractor use.
Biodiversity Project
Biodiversity Project, Madison, in partnership with Michelob Golden Light and Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc., St. Louis, Mo., raised $10,000 as part of a summer environmental preservation campaign to help protect the Great Lakes. The campaign was promoted in local bars, restaurants and retail outlets throughout the Great Lakes region in July, August and September. A portion of sales from Michelob Golden Light from July to September was used to fund the donation. Anheuser-Busch also contributed to the campaign by offering the marketing services and distribution networks of its Wisconsin and Illinois wholesalers. The contribution will help fund Biodiversity Project’s Great Lakes Forever awareness campaign, which includes radio and print ads and signage in state parks, among other things.

Smith & Associates Inc., Brookfield, and its National Survey & Engineering Division ranked No. 8 among medium-sized companies and No. 16 overall in CE News magazine’s "Best Civil Engineering Firms to Work For" contest for 2005. The magazine featured 50 firms. Other firms located in Wisconsin that were ranked in the contest included Kapur & Associates Inc., Milwaukee, which ranked No. 36 overall and McMahon Associates Inc., Neenah, which ranked No. 43 overall.

Milwaukee World Festival Inc., Milwaukee, producers of Summerfest, received six Pinnacle 2005 awards from the International Festivals & Events Association. Summerfest 2005 received three gold awards for best single magazine display advertisement, best television advertisement and best solicitation video. Summerfest 2005 also received three bronze awards for the grand Pinnacle award for overall festival, best overall sponsorship and best single new sponsorship for U.S. Cellular’s sponsorship of the U.S. Cellular Connection Stage with Leinenkugel’s and FM 103.7 (KISS FM). Others from the Milwaukee area that placed in the Pinnacle awards included Wisconsin State Fair, Irish Fest, East Town Association for Jazz in the Park and Friends of Art and the Milwaukee Art Museum for the Lakefront Festival of the Arts.

Tom Gale, Tim Casey and Ken Petershack, formerly of Wangard Partners Inc., Waukesha, and Richard Jungen, chief executive officer of Central States Mortgage Co. Inc., Wauwatosa, formed Equity Commercial Real Estate LLC. Equity Commercial Real Estate emerged from the brokerage operations of Wangard Partners and allows Wangard to focus on new development opportunities and acquisitions. The firm will concentrate on the leasing and sales of office, industrial, retail and investment real estate and will provide pre-development and development consulting and brokerage services. Gale, Casey and Petershack will serve as principals in the new company. Gale most recently served as vice president of Wangard Partners and had worked there since 1999. Gale focuses on the sale and leasing of commercial, industrial and office properties. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He has been a licensed real estate broker since 1984. Casey most recently served as a broker for Wangard Partners and focused on leasing and selling industrial buildings. He previously served as vice president of the Wisconsin regional office of CenterPoint Properties Trust, Oak Brook, Ill. and as the director of economic development for Milwaukee County for seven years. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in urban planning from UW-Milwaukee. Petershack most recently served as the director of corporate real estate for Wangard Partners. Petershack focuses on the commercial real estate brokerage of retail and office properties. He joined Wangard in 2002 and previously worked for Ford Motor Co., Dearborn, Mich. For 10 years. Petershack holds a bachelor’s degree in communication arts and a master’s degree in business administration, both from UW-Milwaukee.
