ArtWorks names new executive director

ArtWorks for Milwaukee has announced the appointment of Terry Murphy as its new executive director.

Murphy was selected by the board of directors and began work on July 9.
“Terry’s unique background in both emerging non-profits and grant writing make her a perfect fit for our expanding organization,” said Vanessa LaCoste, board president. The board selected Murphy based on her nonprofit experience in development and outreach, strategic planning and administration background.
ArtWorks for Milwaukee has spent the last year developing an expanded program model, called the Graduated Programming Model, which will provide a great community impact by inspiring more teens of longer periods of time through a more robust employment experience. This new program model will allow for additional measurements of outcomes to share the positive impact and return on investment for community stakeholders. ArtWorks for Milwaukee is looking to transition to this Graduated Programming Model over the next couple of years. Murphy will lead that effort.
Murphy most recently served as the executive director at Lundington Area Center for the Arts in Ludington, Michigan. She successfully defined the position of Executive Director, which was the first and only full-time paid position of the new arts organization in rural West Michigan.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead ArtWorks for Milwaukee in a bigger direction, and look forward to engaging the community, city leadership and critical community partners to fully realize our shared vision for an empowered Milwaukee youth,” Murphy said.
