GreenSquare Center for the Healing Arts, offering acupuncture, hypnotherapy, yoga, meditation and more, is now open at 6789 N. Green Bay Ave., Glendale. The center specializes in holistic therapies that help individuals work toward wellness.
"It’s not about replacing modern medicine, but working with physicians and other health practitioners to help you feel and be your best," says Hollie Nankin who helped develop the center. Her husband, Armin Nankin, has owned the building for about 10 years. It is the site of the former Simon House restaurant at the intersection of Green Bay Avenue and Green Tree Road.
Among the practitioners and their specialties are: Jodie Heinrich, acupuncture; Karla Hermann, hypnosis; Lee Ann Dzelzkalns, guided meditation, relaxation and vibrational therapy; Alyssa Gillespie, core synchronism, Christine LeGrand, art therapy; Rose Schoenenberger, health education and weight loss; Marty Leamon, advanced activate isolated stretch therapy, Kim Rasmussen and Tery Van Buskirk, reiki therapy, and Dr. Bruce Semon, nutrition and homeopathy.
Hermann, who is a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists and is certified in treating pain, fibromyalgia and stress, among other things, says hypnosis is a safe, effective and natural alternative to assist in changing a habit or behavior. She has taught seminars through the University of Wisconsin and offers classes and private sessions at GreenSquare.
"We all have things about us that we want to change – insomnia, nail-biting, smoking, dealing with anxiety or stress," she said. "Hynotherapy helps put your mind in a place to do the right thing."
Acupuncturist Jodie Curro-Heinrich has more than three decades of experience in alternative medicine-based health solutions and is board certified as a licensed acupuncturist.
