Milwaukee County Executive-elect Chris Abele recently joined Palermo’s Pizza, in partnership with the Hunger Task Force to assemble and delivere 1,000 meal baskets for Milwaukee families as part of its fourth annual Easter Baskets for the Hungry program. The Easter baskets were delivered to local families who would not otherwise be able to enjoy a traditional holiday meal.
“Sharing a good meal together – particularly during the holidays – is so important and we’re thankful that we can help make this possible for local families this Easter season,” said Giacomo Fallucca, president and CEO, Palermo’s Pizza. “The Easter Baskets program has become our own family tradition, and we extend a special thank you to all of our community partners for their support.”
Each basket contained approximately 40 pounds of food, enough to feed most families for a week. The baskets include holiday favorites including ham, jellybeans and the ingredients for a green bean casserole. Since the program’s inception in 2008 more than 100,000 pounds of food has been delivered.
