O’Reilly Automotive Stores Inc. plans to construct a new auto parts store at the Silver Mill shopping center on Milwaukee’s north side, according to an application filed with the city.
The new O’Reilly Auto Parts building would be constructed at 6181 N. Teutonia Ave., on an outlot of the shopping center. It would sell automotive parts, but not perform vehicle maintenance.
The new building represents a nearly $970,000 investment in the property, the application states. The lot itself would be leased from the property owner for at least 20 years. Once in operation, the auto parts store would employ eight full-time workers.
Milwaukee’s Board of Zoning Appeals will consider the project on Thursday. The applicants are requesting to construct the building so that it exceeds the maximum allowed setback. It also does not meet minimum glazing and landscaping requirements.
Due to site restrictions, if the building was constructed according to the setback requirements it would not allow for required parking and vehicle access aisles in front of or behind the building, according to the application.
The shopping center is on Milwaukee’s far north side, sitting on the west side of Teutonia Avenue with Florist Avenue to its south and Mill Road to the north.
