A defense and aerospace manufacturer is considering a new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Menomonee Falls, potentially bringing 600 jobs to the village.

A Briohn rendering of the Project Walleye building

The proposal, labeled Project Walleye, calls for a 350,000-square-foot, high-tech industrial building at the northwest corner of Flint Drive and Good Hope Road in the Woodland Prime business park. An existing 120,000-square-foot office building would also be remodeled. Weas Development and Briohn Building Corp. submitted conceptual plans to the village for an unnamed user.

The tenant is described as a manufacturer of a variety of specialized electronic components related to products used in the aerospace and defense sector. The companyโ€™s existing facility is located in a neighboring community, is too small for immediate needs and does not provide room for future growth, the submission says.

Around 600 employees would occupy the facility on a single shift. The building would serve as a corporate headquarters, manufacturing, laboratories and research and development.

โ€œOur client currently employs and plans on adding engineers and technicians and wants the new facility to help attract and retain highly skilled workforce,โ€ the submission says. โ€œThe geographic central location of the Flint Drive site is also important to meeting this end.โ€

The Menomonee Falls plan commission is scheduled to review the plans on Tuesday.
