A poke restaurant based in downtown Chicago plans to open a location in Milwaukee’s East Side neighborhood next month.

Fusion Poke would occupy a 2,371-square-foot space that formerly housed The Hotch Spot bar and restaurant at 1813 E. Kenilworth Pl. Owner Yulin Zheng, who signed a lease for the space in December, wants to open the restaurant on May 15, according to a City of Milwaukee license application. Zheng was not immediately available for comment.

The fast-casual restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner. Fusion Poke joins a handful of other poke restaurants that have opened or been proposed throughout the city, including FreshFin Poke, Aloha Poke, and Ren Poke.

FreshFin Poke was the first poke restaurant to open in Milwaukee in January 2017. It has since expanded to Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward and to The Corners of Brookfield.
