For every run scored by the Milwaukee Brewers this season, the WaterStone Bank Fund, the charitable arm of WaterStone Bank, will donate $10 to the Sojourner Family Peace Center (SFPC).
This season marks the second year of WaterStone’s partnership with SFPC. In 2010, the WaterStone donation totaled $7,500. The funds supported Sojourner’s many programs designed to heal families suffering from domestic abuse.
WaterStone Bank Fund, in conjunction with WTMJ-the Brewers Radio Network, will also continue to underwrite commercial messages to help communicate SFPC’s mission to the Milwaukee baseball community.
“WaterStone has been a wonderful ally in helping us spread the word about Sojourner Family Peace Center’s mission and services,” said Angela Mancuso, co-executive director of SFPC. “The local radio spots create crucial awareness in the Milwaukee community while the monetary donation helps us to better assist residents looking to break the cycle of violence. We are so grateful for WaterStone’s generosity and support, and wish the Brewers much success this season.”
Sojourner’s mission is to create peaceful communities in which domestic respect and a life free from violence is the right of every woman, man and child. The agency provides education, advocacy and resources to keep people safe, including a 42-bed shelter that has provided safety and support services to thousands of women and children.
Other programs include a 24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline, Domestic Abuse Victim Advocates in the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, Courthouse Advocacy, Legal Emergency Assistance, Children’s Advocacy, Ending Violence through Education and Beyond Abuse, which is for men and women seeking alternatives to abusive behavior.
