Endurance sports expo to host national speakers; target beginners

The third annual Great Lakes Multisport Cycling & Running Expo will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29 and Sunday, Jan. 30 at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex, 6000 Ryan Rd, in Franklin.
“We started this expo because a group of people like myself, who are very interested in endurance fitness find ourselves in a bit of a funk this time of  year in Wisconsin,” said Cole Braun, expo organizer and founder. “We thought it would be a great way for people like us to have a fun weekend where people can celebrate everything endurance fitness, but it’s also a great way for us to help beginner runners get started.”
According to Braun, there will be 55,000 square feet of exhibitors from the bicycling, swim and fitness industry displaying products and services for attendees, and also talking about how to get involved and be better at the sports involved in the expo.
“We’ve adopted the tag line buy stuff, do stuff, learn stuff,” said Braun. “There should be plenty of opportunities for attendees to do that this weekend.”
Expo guests include coach and author Patrick McCrann, coach and author of the recently published Train to Live, Live to Train: The Insiders Guide to Building the Ultimate Fitness Lifestyle, Dr. Rick Kattouf, author of Forever Fit: The Easy-to-Follow, Step-by-Step Life Plan to Improve Your Body and Mind, and Mike Reilly, the voice of the Iron Man competitions worldwide.
“We developed the Expo to motivate and inspire whether your goal is living a healthy lifestyle or qualifying for the Boston Marathon or Ironman World Championship,” said Braun. “It’s a winter warm up designed to fire up those looking for a place to get together to enjoy their passion in the dead of winter.”
Cost to attend the event is  $7 in advance or $10 at the door. Parking is free. The first 150 – 400 attending the Expo will receive numerous free gifts including CDs and clothing. All proceeds from the event will benefit Racers Against Childhood Cancer, an organization also founded by Braun and his wife Jenny to help racers use their competitive spirit to raise money for research to fight childhood cancer.  The Expo opens both Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. for more information and speaker times visit http://www.multisportexpo.com/
