*Saturday, June 6, the Milwaukee Bucks will hold the “Bucks Summer Block Party” on the Schlitz Park campus. The inaugural summer event will take place in front of the Stock-House building on North Second Street, from West Cherry Street to West Galena Street. The event will run from noon to 5 p.m. with the unveiling the of the Bucks’ new uniforms scheduled for 2 p.m. The day will also include appearances by Bucks players, live music, food, beverages, prizes and more. *Saturday, June 6, the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts will hold its signature fundraiser, “The Big Event,” geared toward young professionals in southeastern Wisconsin. The event, themed “Crash the Party,” will encompass dinner, dancing and live music performed by a cappella group “Naturally 7.” Event proceeds will benefit the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts’ educational programming. The fundraiser will run from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at the Wilson Center, located at 19805 W. Capitol Drive in Brookfield. Cost is $75. Attendees from downtown Milwaukee will also be able to take part in a 5 p.m. pre-party at the University Club with shuttle service provided to and from the fundraiser. *Wednesday, June 10, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin will present its ninth annual “Grateful Plate” fundraiser at the Wisconsin Club. The evening, which will benefit the organization’s food distribution efforts to area residents and families in need, will feature a silent auction, live auction, reception, and dinner. The reception will begin at 5 p.m. with dinner scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Cost is $125 for individuals and $1,500 for a sponsor table of 10. The Wisconsin Club is located at 900 W. *Thursday, June 11, the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee will facilitate a workshop teaching organizations about steps for effective grant writing. The workshop, titled “Before You Write Your First Grant,” will cover grant writing terms, the differences between types of grant makers, grant writing resources and more. The workshop will be led by grant writer and adult educator Sandra Christensen. The event will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Nonprofit Center, located at 2819 W. Highland Boulevard in Milwaukee. *Thursday, June 11, the Wisconsin Philanthropy Network will feature a presentation by national nonprofit thought leader Dan Pallotta. His address, titled “Uncharitable: Rethinking Nonprofits with Dan Pallotta,” will center on how current approaches to charity present barriers to organizations in fulfilling their missions. The presentation will draw from Pallotta’s book, “Uncharitable,” which highlights how different mindsets in approaches to philanthropy could change the world. The event will be held at Marcus Majestic Cinema, located at 770 N. Springdale Road in Waukesha, and will begin at 9 a.m. Cost is $50 for WPN members and $100 for non-members. *Tuesday, June 16, the Milwaukee Center for Independence will hold a “Garden Party” at the Milwaukee Center for Independence Nexday Campus, located at 3333 S. Howell Ave. in Milwaukee. The party will feature special guest Melinda Myers, who has authored more than 20 gardening books and who is at the center of the television series, “Melinda’s Garden Moment.” Myers will teach guests how to create container gardens and will also host a book signing during the event. The event will also include cooking demonstrations by chef Darryl Anderson and the sale of original artwork by MCFI clients. The party will run from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is $20, and proceeds will benefit horticultural therapy services for individuals with disabilities.
