Froedtert Hospital

Froedtert Hospital Milwaukee has been recognized with the National Research Corporation’s Consumer Choice Award for the eighth consecutive year. The award honors hospitals with the highest quality and image in more than 300 markets nationally based on selections by consumers. In pinpointing the top-rated hospitals, the National Research Corporation surveys more than 250,000 households throughout the country each year. Households weighing in live in the communities the hospitals directly serve, and hospitals are evaluated on their overall quality, overall image and reputation, doctors and nursing staff. The National Research Corporation is dedicated to health care performance measurement and improvement initiatives.

David J. Frank Landscaping

David J. Frank Landscape Contracting, based in Germantown, has received national recognition for excellence in landscape services and attention to the environment. The company earned three Environmental Improvement Awards from the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). Landscape architect Brian Zimmerman, of David J. Frank Landscaping, captured two first-place awards for his efforts at homes in Shorewood and Pewaukee. Landscape architect Zach Lieven was honored with a second-place award for residential maintenance of park-like grounds in Mequon. Representatives from the company collected their awards at a ceremony in Louisville, Kentucky, during the annual Green Industry Expo, the biggest national convention focused on landscaping and sustainability. David J. Frank Landscaping caters to both residential and commercial clients with irrigation, lawn care, pest management and snow removal among other maintenance services.

Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) Southeast Wisconsin

The YWCA Greater Milwaukee has evolved into YWCA Southeast Wisconsin with an expansion in its outreach services targeted toward an estimated 20,000 residents in the coming year. The organization, an affiliate of the YWCA USA, helps low-income women and their families develop skills useful for economic and personal success and provides them with programming and community resources related to affordable housing, education opportunities, job training and racial justice. The YWCA of Greater Milwaukee merged with the YWCA of Racine to form the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin, which will operate with both Milwaukee and Racine offices. The Milwaukee facility will continue its programming initiatives associated with racial justice and workforce and economic development. At its Racine location, the organization will focus on job placement services and will broaden its services to accommodate the Racine community. The Racine office, which stands at the former location of the YWCA of Racine in Regency Mall, is currently undergoing renovation. The YWCA Southeast Wisconsin will celebrate the grand opening of the Racine office Nov. 13 and encourages the public to attend.

Helen Bader Foundation

The Helen Bader Foundation, a philanthropic organization based in Milwaukee, has awarded 20 Milwaukee-area workforce development groups a total of $855,000 in grants. Fifteen of the grant recipients serve adults with disabilities and vision impairments as well as low-income minority groups. Grant recipients include the United Cerebral Palsy of Southeastern Wisconsin, Wiscraft Inc., Operation DREAM, and Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services Inc. Through the grant awards, the Helen Bader Foundation seeks to help unemployed individuals facing additional obstacles to employment. The organization’s latest funding is part of its initiative to distribute $1.5 million each year in workforce development grants.
