Generac has acquired a former Briggs & Stratton facility in Jefferson.
The building is about 250,000 square feet and sits on an 18 acre lot at 900 N. Parkway.
Milwaukee-based Briggs, which makes lawn mower parts and small engines, closed the production facility in summer 2010 and has been actively looking for a buyer since then, said Laura Timm, director of corporate communications and community events at Briggs.
“It was a result of a consolidation of our home power products group,” Timm said.
Briggs sold the building to Warehouse Development group LLC on August 27. The group then sold the property to Generac, she said.
Waukesha-based Generac confirmed the purchase.
“We are evaluating our future use of the facility, and considering everything from using it as a warehouse to potentially using it for light assembly should our business continue to grow,” the company said in a statement.
