U.S. Reps. Tom Petri (R-Fond du Lac) and Reid Ribble (R-Appleton) are working to advance manufacturing tax reform.
The Representatives are leading the bipartisan Working Group on Manufacturing, one of 11 working groups tasked by the House Ways and Means Committee with collecting input on the tax code.
Petri and Ribble have set up a roundtable discussion that will be held at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton to talk to local manufacturers about comprehensive tax reform.
“The tax code needs a thorough review, and Wisconsin manufacturers will provide valuable feedback for the working group,” Petri said. “Manufacturing is a critical part of our state’s economy and workforce, and Wisconsin manufacturers know what it takes to succeed. I look forward to hearing from local companies at the roundtable, and I also encourage all manufacturers to submit their thoughts to the committee.”
The working group hopes to gather feedback from a wide range of manufacturers so they can be well informed on how the tax code affects the industry and create a pro-manufacturing tax code.
“With a background in small business, I know that if employers do not have certainty in tax and regulatory policy, it is difficult to expand and grow our economy,” said Ribble. “I am looking forward to the conversation with local manufacturers, and getting their feedback on what tax policy ought to look like so that businesses can grow and create new jobs.”
The group will accept public comments until Monday, April 15 using the following procedure:
1. To submit comments on any important tax provisions, please email: tax.reform@mail.house.gov.
2. In the subject line of the email, please indicate “Comments: Manufacturing Tax Reform Working Group”
3. Attach submission as a Word document.
4. In addition to the Word document attachment, please include in the body of the email a contact name, physical address, phone number and email address.
