Brewhouse Inn & Suites, the hotel that is under construction at the former Pabst brewery in downtown Milwaukee, and a restaurant in that hotel, will open in mid-April, said Ted Matkom of Gorman & Company, which is developing the hotel in the fromer Pabst Brew House and Mill House buildings northwest of Juneau Avenue and North 10th Street.

Gorman has leased the 5,580-square-foot restaurant space in the building to Mark Zierath, the owner of Jacksonโ€™s Blue Ribbon Pub in Wauwatosa and Ellaโ€™s (formerly Sluggoโ€™s Sports Bar) in Brookfield, Matkom said. The menu and format for the restaurant have yet to be determined, but it will include a Pabst brewing history theme, Matkom said. The restaurant will provide food for room service for the hotel. The restaurant will also be connected to a beer garden patio, which is being built behind the hotel.

The Milwaukee Economic Development Corp. recently approved a $950,000 loan for the restaurant.
