How did you identify the need for a company like Sensia Wellness?
“The market is filled with wellness vendors who offer a limited number of services. Sensia is much more than that. The differentiating factor regarding Sensia is the provision of a comprehensive preventive medicine program to corporations. Our key offering is the ability to set up and staff an affordable primary care clinic at the place of employment along with providing all of the supportive wellness programming. Our goal is to partner with employers to implement a health care cost containment solution based upon directly improving the health of their employees.”
What does the gamut of your wellness programs and services include?
“We offer three main services: health risk assessments, incentive program design and management, and onsite medical clinics. Sensia can essentially offer and operate a complete preventive medicine program for the employer. Additional supportive services include educational seminars, smoking cessation classes, and health coaching. We can even give flu shots.”
What was the smartest thing your company did in the past year?
“Hired quality employees who believe in our mission. Sensia has been blessed with hardworking professionals who believe in prevention and are working to change the delivery of health care in the Milwaukee area.”
Do you plan to hire any additional staff or make any significant capital investments in your company in the next year?
“New investments are already in the pipeline. Sensia will soon be announcing our Health Activity Tracker, which allows for the design and implementation of a wellness incentive program for the employer. The employees will be able to access, update, and monitor their participation in the company wellness plan at any time either by computer or via a Sensia phone app. Employees will be able to access all of their wellness personal data confidentially through the Wellness Dashboard located on the Sensia website.
“Sensia is also in the midst of developing our own proprietary Health Risk Assessment System, which will be the most comprehensive offering of its kind in the market. We will keep you informed as to the date of the rollout.
“I anticipate the need to hire a number of additional staff during 2015. We are always seeking quality staff members who are looking to work in a health care system that is modeled on prevention, education and holistic care.”
What will be your company’s main challenges in the next year?
“The health care rules and regulations are always changing. Every medical provider needs to stay ahead of the curve or be consumed by bureaucracy. The government is not the greatest health care ally at this time.”
Do you have a business mantra?
“Our business mantra is to partner with employers to assist them in controlling their health care costs. I oftentimes will ask an employer, ‘What is your corporate health care cost containment strategy?’ Employers need to awaken to the fact that the cost of health care is THEIR problem for which they need to find their OWN solutions.”
How popular are your onsite clinics? What differentiates your clinics from those of competing providers?
“Our onsite medical clinics have been very well utilized by the employees. The clinics are readily accessible and free of charge to the employees. Any information obtained is kept confidential through the use of our electronic medical record. No physical medical chart is created. The employer will never be aware of or granted access to anyone’s personal medical information.
“What differentiates our clinics is the low cost and easy access. The clinics are scalable in terms of scope of service and hours of operation. We are able to start with part-time hours and increase as demand dictates.”
From a business standpoint, who do you look up to?
“I have always been impressed with entrepreneurs who operate small- and medium-size businesses. In that I have had similar experience over the last 20 years, I am able to appreciate the numerous challenges that they face and do so with a can-do attitude. Success eventually comes through persistence and patience.”
What do you like to do in your free time?
“I enjoy working out and playing golf. I injured my back a number of years ago and began to swim as rehabilitation. As my condition improved, I also embraced running and biking. The combination of these activities has truly changed my life. I believe that we can all be our own best friend or worst enemy.”
