The American Psychological Association has accredited Rogers Behavioral Health System’s Center for Research and Training as a training site for psychologists for the next seven years.
The APA took into consideration factors including training goals, objectives and practices; intern, faculty and financial resources; and program policies and procedures.
“Our seven-year accreditation reflects positively on Rogers and indicates the organization’s quality,” said Dr. Jody Pahlavan, clinical director of child and adolescent partial hospital services. “The prestige associated with accreditation often leads to future grant opportunities and an increased ability to attract high-quality staff. In addition, accreditation assists Rogers in fulfilling its mission of service, research, education and training.”
Dr. John Rhee, the John C. Koss Professor and chairman of otolaryngology and communication sciences at Medical College of Wisconsin, has been named the next editor-in-chief of JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, an international peer-reviewed journal that serves as the official publication for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Inc.
Rhee, who currently serves as the journal’s deputy editor, will succeed founding editor Dr. Wayne Larrabee Jr.
The Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin recently paid tribute to the community support that has grown Children’s into one of the nation’s top-ranked pediatric hospitals.
Northwestern Mutual received the Organization Award for its $2 million donation to build a special area inside the hospital for children who receive outpatient treatment of cancer and blood disorders. Board members Ted Kellner and Linda Mellowes were honored with the Emelie Vogel Nunnemacher Award for their commitment to Children’s Hospital and their spirit of collaboration. Finally, Fred and Kay Austermann were honored with the Legacy Award for choosing Children’s as a significant beneficiary in their estate plans in recognition of the memory of their son and the care he received at Children’s.
“The individual and corporate support we receive enables us to improve the overall health and well-being of children in this community and beyond,” said Peggy Troy, chief executive officer of Children’s Hospital.
Aurora Health Care board chair John Daniels Jr. recently received the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s 2014 Trustee of the Year Award. Daniels, who joined the board in 2008, was nominated by Dr. Nick Turkal, Aurora Health Care president and chief executive officer.
“John has a long-standing record of leadership in our community,” Turkal said. “His contributions to the advancement of education, race relations, arts and culture, economic development and health care are innumerable.”
