Treasures Media plans to construct a new 80,000-square-foot distribution center in Racine’s Southside Industrial Park.
The site is working with builder and contractor BCI Group to construct the center at the site, which is known locally as the former Jacobsen-Textron property.
Treasures Media distributes Christian merchandise, through its City of Racine retail location and through the internet. The company is currently leasing a 50,000-square-foot facility in Racine’s Badger Plaza. However, with the growth of its business, Treasures has outgrown the space.
The company employs 27 people and plans to nearly double its employment to 53 as a result of the new construction project.
The Racine County Economic Development Corp. (RCEDC), together with the City of Racine staff, was contacted for assistance several months ago by Jerry Bloom, owner of Treasures Media. The RCEDC is funded in part by Racine County and the City of Racine.
Racine Mayor John Dickert said, "The City is pleased to partner with Jerry Bloom on the growth of his company and welcomes the investment at the Southside Business Park and the 26 new jobs that will be created."
Racine County Executive Bill McReynolds said, "Having a project so close to the area of high unemployment in the city is great news for the community. We are very pleased that Treasures has chosen this site."
Bloom said, "The City of Racine location has served us very well and we are happy to continue our partnership with the City as we expand our operations into the City’s Southside Industrial Park."
