Web site launched for The North End project
Milwaukee-based Mandel Group Inc. hired Milwaukee-based Layer One Media to create a web site for The North End project, which is being built on the former site of the Pfister & Vogel tannery complex in downtown Milwaukee. Once complete, The North End will have several buildings with 88 apartments, 395 condos and about 30,000 square feet of retail space. The North End web site www.thenorthend.com launched recently. "The number one goal for the North End Website was to position them not as another one of the new condo buildings popping up around Milwaukee, but as a complete neighborhood with a built-in lifestyle," said Brody Buss, president of Layer One Media. The North End’s web site encourages visitors to stroll around a virtual representation of The North End neighborhood with both animation and photography.
Web site launched for condos in Aloft hotel building
Milwaukee-based Ruvin Development Inc. and Dallas-based Gatehouse Capital Corp. have launched a web site for the nine condos, called The Residences Above, that will be part of their Aloft hotel development northeast of Old World Third Street and Juneau Avenue in downtown Milwaukee.
The project is expected to break ground this spring.
The development will also include about 3,200 square feet of street level retail space, which is being marketed by Peter Glaser of CB Richard Ellis.
WCREW seeking nominations for leadership luncheon awards
On June 4 at the Italian Community Center, the WCREW (Wisconsin Commercial Real Estate Women) will host its seventh annual lunch event for outstanding women in Wisconsin’s commercial real estate industry. The organization is seeking nominations of women that have "demonstrated leadership in the industry through, among other things, project development, community involvement, display of foresight and vision, commitment to mentoring, and other accomplishments." Downtown Milwaukee BID preparing to welcome Infinity HealthCare
The Downtown Milwaukee Business Improvement District (BID), which provided welcome bags for more than 1,000 Manpower Inc. employees when the company moved downtown last year, is planning a similar gift for about 150 Infinity HealthCare employees. InfinityHealth Care moved from Mequon to the Chase Tower building on March 3. The BID is asking downtown businesses to contribute items for the welcome bags. "To welcome our new friends, Milwaukee Downtown will be assembling welcome bags to greet and acquaint the latest wave of downtown employees," the BID said in a statement. "We need your help in gathering items of value to include in these packages. This could be a coupon, water bottle, coffee mug, key chain, gift certificate, etc. The possibilities are endless." Items for the welcome bags must be delivered to the Milwaukee Downtown office at 600 E. Wells St. by March 18.
American Subcontractors Association to president awards
The American Subcontractors Association of Wisconsin recently announced the winners for its General Contractor, Architect, Engineer, Project Manager, and Superintendent of the Year awards. Milwaukee-based CG Schmidt Inc. is the general contractor of the year, Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects is the architect of the year and Milwaukee-based Graef, Anhalt, Schoemer & Associates Inc. is the engineer of the year. The Superintendent of the Year award will be presented to Roger Houk and Project Manager of the Year award will be presented to David Grayson, both of C.G. Schmidt.
