“Women Putting Their Stamp on Metro Milwaukee,” now in its 12th year, has become one of Milwaukee most prestigious awards ceremonies. To date, 251 women have been recognized for making a difference in Metro Milwaukee in various categories. Representatives from Senators Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold’s office, as well as Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Congresswoman Gwen Moore’s offices, extended their congratulations to the honorees and praised the Postal Service for their professionalism and organization.
This year, the Lakeland District featured a special program, before and after the event, where the general public was able to send a “woman to woman” package to female soldiers serving overseas.  Wisconsin WE CARE provided items from a warehouse of donations to fill the boxes and the Postal Service provided the Flat-rate Priority Mail packaging supplies.  Attendees filled out the customs form and paid the military discounted postage.  One Hundred Fifty boxes were filled and sent to the deserving women serving overseas.
