The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has named Kaushal Chari as its new dean of the Lubar School of Business.
Chari has been an associate dean for research and professional programs at the Muma School of Business at the University of South Florida since 2013. Chari begins his role at UWM in June 2019.
He succeeds V. Kanti Prasad, a professor of entrepreneurship who led the school from 2002 to 2009 and has served as interim dean since 2015.
The university said Chari has a track record of fundraising, business and civic engagement, strategic planning and creation of innovative programming, including an online MBA program.
A researcher of software engineering, business intelligence and distributed systems, Chari previously chaired the USF department of Information Systems & Decision Sciences from 2006 to 2013.
He earned his PhD in management information systems at the University of Iowa, and taught at Arkansas State University and James Madison University in Virginia before joining the faculty of USF in 1998.
