[caption id="attachment_154886" align="alignright" width="452"] The Pfister Hotel.[/caption] The Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee has named the finalists for its 11th annual artist in residence program. The year-long residency, which runs each year from April 1 through March 31, features a working, lobby-level art studio and gallery used by the artist to create and display original artworks for hotel guests and the general public. The artist in residence will also participate in gallery night and days, as well as other events during the program. Six local artists were chosen as this year's finalists. They include:

• Ann Kathryn Kehoe, metalsmith and lapidary artist
• Ariana Vaeth, contemporary realist painter
• DakotaSky Bowen, muralist and subjective expressionist painter
• Heidi Parkes, fiber artist
• Rosy Petri, multidisciplinary artist with a focus on textiles, printmaking and audio
• Shannon Meier, fiber and textile artist

Set to be announced in late February, the winner will be chosen by a committee of members of Milwaukee's arts community. As part of the selection process, the finalists will be interviewed individually, and will showcase their work to the public during Milwaukee’s Gallery Night event on Jan. 18 at the Pfister.  This year's winner will replace current artist in residence Stephanie Schultz, a Milwaukee-based fashion designer.
