Marcus Hotels & Resorts, a division of Milwaukee-based Marcus Corp., has named Andrew Flack as the company's first chief commercial officer.
Flack joins Marcus after 25 years at McLean, Virginia-based hospitality giant Hilton, serving most recently as vice president of marketing and e-commerce. In that role, he supported more than 5,000 managed and franchised properties, and led 140 team members located throughout the Americas.
"Andrew brings to Marcus Hotels & Resorts an extensive set of skills that will allow us to most effectively align and leverage all commercial resources to include sales, marketing, revenue strategy, and distribution. He has a consistent track record of transformation, building customer-facing innovation and delivering exceptional financial results,” said Michael Evans, president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts.
Flack's other roles at Hilton included vice president of product marketing and customer insights and vice president of global brand marketing, as well as international posts vice president of sales and marketing Asia Pacific and regional director of sales, marketing and revenue management in Sydney, Australia.
Flack received a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from Newcastle University in the United Kingdom and his MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney.
“We look forward to Andrew’s contributions as we build on the past success and continued growth of Marcus Hotels & Resorts,” said Evans.
Marcus Corp. has been hit hard by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Having temporarily shut down all of its hotels, movie theaters and restaurants, total revenue for the second quarter of 2020 was down 97% from the previous year.
Hotel room revenue totaled $857,000 for the quarter, which was down from $28.2 million in the second quarter of 2019.
All eight properties that Marcus Hotels owns have reopened in recent months, some still with limited service.
