Super Bowl wager benefits local charity

Brookfield-based Kolb+Co. Inc., has made a friendly wager with Pittsburgh independent accounting firm Schneider Downs that will benefit local charities in the winning team’s city.
“Our idea is to involve our entire offices in a team spirit day, where every employee can support their team through casual dress when they make a $5 donation,” said Tom Luken, president and chief executive officer of Kolb+Co. “Once the Super Bowl has been decided, all proceeds will be donated to a charity selected by the winning office.”
Both firms will match the employee contributions in order to raise the stakes, Luken said.
Kolb+Co. has chosen to donate the funds to Children’s Hospital and Health System Foundation if the Green Bay Packers win, and Schneider Downs has selected the Pittsburgh Pirates Charities as their designated charity.
“Just to keep it interesting: If the Steelers win, Tom will have his photo taken wearing a Troy Polamalu jersey and hair wig,” said Raymond Buehler, president and chief executive officer of Schneider Downs.
If the Packers win, Buehler will have his photo taken wearing a Packers jersey and a cheese head.
The two firms are frequent collaborators through their membership in IGAF Worldwide, an association of independent accounting firms comprised of firms located in 60 countries throughout the world.
