Ronald McDonald House buys county land for future expansion

The Milwaukee County Board has voted unanimously to allow the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Wauwatosa to purchase 3.5 acres of County land that is adjacent to the four acres of land that Ronald McDonald House currently leases from the County. The purchase of the land lays the ground for the organization’s expansion plans.

“I speak on behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and families when I thank the County Board of Supervisors and the County Executives Office for their advocacy in the purchase of this land,” said Bob Monday, chairman of the board at the Ronald McDonald House. “I am grateful for the strong partnerships we have developed during this process and look forward to our expansion to better serve more families during the most stressful time in their lives.”
According to a statement released by Ronald McDonald House Charities, the House has been running at full capacity for more than four years, and in 2011 couldn’t even accommodate 806 families in need. The House expansion plans will double the size of the House to 75 guest rooms and will also remodel and expand internal and external common facilities.
Plunkett Raysich Architects will lead the expansion in a way that maintains architectural consistency and will also pursue LEED certification for the expansion.
