Real estate deal of the week

Waste Management of Wisconsin recently purchased the former Smith & Nephew building at N104 W13464 Donges Bay Road, Germantown, from Patterson Companies for $7.3 million. The 210,400-square-foot building sits on a 26-acre property. Waste Management plans to redevelop the building and add the rail spur to create a recycling center. About 200 people will work at the facility. That includes 110 new jobs, paying between $9 and $20 an hour, which Waste Management will be creating in Germantown. Tom Shepherd, Matt Bertucci and Michael Fardy of Inland Companies Inc. and Mark Evenson of The Staubach Companies represented Patterson Companies in brokering the sale. Mark Rokos of Waste Management handled the negotiations for that company. The property has been on the market for about four years, Shepherd said. When the Waste Management redevelopment project is completed, the property will be worth about $18 million, he said.
