The 126-year-old Brady Street building that has housed Mimma’s Café since 1989 has been sold for $1.3 million to the owner of another Brady Street institution, Jo-Cat’s Pub.
Jeno Cataldo, purchased the property at 1301-1307 E. Brady St. from R&R Prospect Holdings, LLC, which is registered to Rick Boyd, president of HB Wealth Management, LLC, according to state records.
The two-story, 10,297-square-foot Mimma’s Café building was built in 1890. The property is assessed by the city of Milwaukee at $1.18 million.
The restaurant is owned by chef Mimma Megna.
Cataldo and business partner Michael Klein, president of Klein Development, also own a property one block south of Brady Street at 1632-1648 N. Franklin Place and are planning to build a 10-story residential tower at the site.
Cataldo could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Mimma’s building was auctioned off in a sheriff’s foreclosure sale in 2014. At the time, an affiliate of Milwaukee-based Phoenix Investors submitted the high bid of $850,000 for the building.
