Marcus Theatres, a division of The Marcus Corp., launched a new and improved mobile app that allows users to purchase tickets for any Marcus Theatre using their smartphones.
The app is available at no cost in the Apple App Store or through the Android Market.
The new graphical interface includes many features designed to simplify and streamline the process of selecting and purchasing tickets for a movie. Users can search for theatres or movies from the app’s home page. The app can list theatres that are within 25 miles of the user’s location, or search by zip code or city/state. Users can scroll through the theatres to see what is playing at each one, view trailers, get detailed movie information and buy tickets.
“The entire ticket purchase can now take place on your smart phone,” said Rolando Rodriguez, president and CEO of Marcus Theatres. “Your ticket will appear on your phone’s screen so there is no need to print anything, simply show your phone at the box office where the cashier will scan it for admission.”
Milwaukee-based Marcus Corp. also announced the promotion of Thomas Kissinger, 53, to senior executive vice president. In addition, the company announced the promotions of Steven S. Bartelt to director of legal affairs and Mary Beth Castino to director of risk management.
Kissinger will continue to serve as Marcus Corp.’s general counsel and secretary and will assume added responsibilities for the human resources and corporate real estate departments. He will also work with the company’s two divisions on strategic planning. He joined the company in 1993 as secretary and director of legal affairs.

I look forward to continuing to work with Tom as he assumes his added responsibilities,” said Gregory Marcus, president and chief executive officer of The Marcus Corp.
