Marcus Hotels & Resorts has taken over management operations for the Hyatt Regency hotel in Schaumburg, Ill., The Marcus Corp. announced today.
With that addition to its portfolio, Milwaukee-based Marcus now owns and/or manages 22 hotels, resorts and other properties in nine states across the U.S.
“We are excited to assume management of one of Chicagoland’s most popular hotels and to be affiliated with Hyatt, a leading global hospitality company known for its distinctive guest experiences,” said Greg Marcus, president and chief executive officer of The Marcus Corp. “Hyatt Regency Schaumburg is perfectly situated for both leisure and business travelers, given its vibrant location, robust amenities, upscale accommodations, enticing dining experiences and chic dĂ©cor.”
The move comes shortly after the 468-room hotel completed a $15 million property-wide renovation project last year, including its rooms and suites. The hotel also includes more than 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.Â
Situated along I-290, Hyatt Regency Schaumburg is located approximately 15 miles from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and 30 miles from downtown Chicago. It’s surrounded by business and leisure attractions including Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg Convention Center, Legoland Discovery Center and the Ned Brown Preserve.
The hotel is owned by Chicago-based First Equity Group LLC.
“We selected Marcus Hotels & Resorts because of its established industry expertise and extensive hotel management capabilities, as well as intimate knowledge of the greater Chicago market,” said Tim Gallagher, co-principal of the commercial real estate development firm. “Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ strong Midwest roots make the company an ideal partner in further positioning Hyatt Regency Schaumburg as a preferred Chicagoland destination.”
Hyatt Regency Schaumburg will be the second Chicago-area hotel in Marcus’ portfolio. It also manages Marriott’s AC Hotel downtown.
Milwaukee-area hotels owned or managed by Marcus include The Pfister Hotel and Hilton Milwaukee City Center, and the soon-to-open Saint Kate, all located in downtown Milwaukee; Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark, both located in Lake Geneva; and Heidel House Resort & Spa in Green Lake.
