Kahler Slater honored as ‘Great Place to Work’

For the 11th consecutive year, Great Place to Work has honored architecture and experience design firm Kahler Slater as one of the best small companies to work for in the United States.
The firm has 114 employees and offices in Milwaukee, Madison and Singapore.

The firm is ranked 13th among small companies on the 2014 Great Place to Work Best Small & Medium Workplaces list, published in FORTUNE magazine. Kahler Slater has been named to the list every year since the list’s inception in 2004.

Great Place to Work selects the honorees based on five dimensions of workplace culture: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
George Meyer, Kahler Slater co-chief executive officer, said, “We’re growing significantly, and our team is expanding to accommodate that growth. Great Place to Work selects its honorees largely based on employee surveys, so being named to the Best Small Workplaces list is a sign that we’re doing the right things to help ensure that we continue to attract and retain great talent.”

“The work of these companies is quite impressive,” said Great Place to Work CEO China Gorman of the companies on the 2014 list. “They provide an example that others can look to, to see what kind of outstanding workplace is possible – regardless of size, industry or other circumstances. For example, the growth that many of these companies are experiencing is tremendous, and they are paying close attention to culture every step of the way. This focus on a strong cultural foundation will help pave the way for continued success as they serve their employees and their customers.”

Gorman added that organizations that foster such workplace cultures often see such benefits as better financial performance, less employee turnover, higher levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty, more innovative and creative thinking, higher productivity and enhanced public perception.

The only other Wisconsin-based company to make the list was Badger Mining Corp., which has offices in Taylor, Berlin and Fairwater, Wis. Badger Mining ranked ninth on the list of small companies.
