Jumpstart on the Weekend

 

*Friday, Sept. 27, the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) and Fuel Milwaukee will bring a group of area professionals to the Skylight Music Theater to see Fidelio, a Bollywood Film inspired by Beethoven’s classic opera. The event will include a VIP reception and meet and greet with Skylight’s new artistic director, Viswa Subbaraman. Attendees will also gain entry to a pre-show reception with complimentary appetizers and drink specials as well as complimentary henna tattoos. They will also have premium seating during the show and will have a chance to see Skylight’s post-show cabaret. Additionally, VIP registrants will be part of a post-performance backstage tour and will take home a special-edition playbill. The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Salon of Broadway Theatre Center, located at 158 N. Broadway in Milwaukee. Cost for Fuel/MMAC members to attend is $40 in advance, $55 at the door, $50 in advance for a VIP ticket and $65 at the door for a VIP ticket. Cost for non-members is $60 in advance, $75 at the door, $70 in advance for a VIP ticket and $85 at the door for a VIP ticket. Space is limited. *Friday, Sept. 27, a beginning level salsa class will be taught at the Astor Street Dance Studio, located at 1228 N. Astor St. in Milwaukee. The class runs each week from 8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. through Dec. 20. Cost is $5 drop-in per person, and no dance partner is needed. *Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28, the Bavarian Soccer Club will present the final weekend of Oktoberfest at Heidelberg Park, located at 700 W. Lexington Blvd. in Glendale. The celebration will run from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday with German brass bands, dancing, singing, sing-a-longs, yodeling, authentic German food, beverages and more. *Saturday, Sept. 28, Newaukee and 88Nine RadioMilwaukee will present a grand opening celebration for 88Nine RadioMilwaukee’s new studio, located at 220 E. Pittsburgh Ave. in Milwaukee. The celebration will include an official ribbon cutting, behind-the-scenes tours, a food sampler for $20, beverages for purchase, a raffle, music spun by DJs, and a chance to meet 88Nine RadioMilwaukee staff. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. with an after party at Prodigal Gastropub, located at 240 E. Pittsburgh Ave. in Milwaukee. The event is free and open to the public.
