Two new hotel developments have been proposed in Brookfield.
Pittsburgh-based Oxford Development Co. plans to build a 129-room Hyatt Summerfield Suites, an extended stay hotel, on a 3-acre site at 555 S. Executive Dr. The property is currently vacant, half is an underutilized parking lot and half is green space. The four story building was recently reveiwed by the Brookfield Plan commission, which authorized a public hearing for a requested re-zoning for the project. "We think it’s going to add to the amount of economic activity occuring in the Executive Drive and Brookfield Square area," said Dan Ertl, Brookfield’s director of community development. Another hotel, a 126-room Marriott SpringHill Suites, has been proposed for the Percheron Square development proposed for the Ruby Farm property, located southwest of Calhoun Road and Blue Mound Road. Brookfield-based VK Development Corp. is the master developer for Percheron Square, but the hotel will be developed by Endeavor Development, Ertl said.
