The Dohmen Company Foundation has donated another $100,000 to MAP International for its Maternal Health program that helps provide sustained care for mothers and children on the Ivory-Coast. Cynthia LaConte, chief executive officer of the Dohmen Company made the announcement.
“We are glad to be able to help MAP International provide services that are so desperately needed by these women and children,” LaConte said. “The Dohmen Company Foundation’s mission is to connect people in need with life saving products and services, which makes the Maternal Health program a natural choice for this gift. At Dohmen, we believe that access to affordable, effective healthcare is a basic human right, and that is why we created the foundation in 2008.”
The program targets five slums in Cote d’Ivoire, a developing nation of western sub-Saharan Africa where access to adequate health services and drugs is hard to come by. An estimated 99,000 mothers and children are among the population.
“We are very grateful the Dohmen Foundation has invested in the health of women and children who live in poor communities around the globe. MAP and Dohmen share a common vision to reach out to those most in need,” said Michael Nyenhuis, president and CEO of MAP. “I have met some of the women and children who will be touched by this generosity. They are often stuck in cycles of poverty and disease, but with this gift, we plan to help them break that cycle.”
