Morin and Sennett to receive Sacagawea Awards
Professional Dimensions has named Jill Morin, executive officer with Kahler Slater, and Nancy Sennett, managing partner of Foley & Lardner LLP, as the 2011 Sacagawea Awards recipients.
Both executives will be honored during the annual Sacagawea Awards Dinner on March 16.
“For 30 years, Professional Dimensions has recognized our community’s outstanding women leaders with the Sacagawea award. This year Nancy Sennett and Jill Morin represent two of our city’s top executive officers – two women who are successfully navigating their firms through these challenging economic times; challenges that are unprecedented for this generation of business leaders.” said Betty Quadracci, Milwaukee Women, inc. chair and president and publisher of QuadCreative and Milwaukee Magazine. “They are modern pioneers who are modeling best practices for the men and women of today.”
The Professional Dimensions award is named for Sacagawea, the only woman on the Lewis and Clark expedition. A woman of many dimensions, Sacagawea was a trailblazer who distinguished herself throughout her life by her leadership, intelligence, foresight, common sense and adaptability. The 2011 honorees exemplify these qualities.
Mary Dowell, director of community relations, Johnson Controls Inc. and president of Professional Dimensions added, “We have presented the Sacagawea award to some of Milwaukee’s most accomplished women leaders in diverse fields including nonprofit, healthcare, and business. This year’s selections, Jill Morin and Nancy Sennett, reflect the continuing influence and achievements of women in our community.”

DuPuy returns to Foley & Lardner

Foley & Lardner LLP and media and sports investment bank Evolution Media Capital (EMC) jointly announced that Robert “Bob” DuPuy has been named a partner within Foley’s Sports Industry Team in New York and a senior advisor at EMC, an affiliate of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the world’s leading entertainment and sports agency.
DuPuy is the former president and chief operating officer of Major League Baseball (MLB) where he held general responsibility for MLB’s central offices, including sponsorship, international broadcasting, baseball operations, legal affairs, Internet operations and MLB’s labor relations committee, among other duties. Prior to joining MLB in 1998, he was a partner with Foley & Lardner and member of the firm’s management committee. While a partner with Foley, DuPuy served as outside legal counsel for MLB beginning in 1989 and as the principal outside counsel to the MLB commissioner and executive council from 1992 to 1998.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Bob back to Foley,” said Ralf Boer, chairman and chief executive officer of Foley. “Bob’s return to Foley illustrates the value he brings to the many clients within our thriving sports industry practice. His experience runs the gamut of the business issues that continue to challenge professional sports as a whole and his ability to navigate those issues will prove to be invaluable for clients.”
Formed in 2008 as a partnership between the former team from Merrill Lynch’s Media and Sports Structured Finance Group and CAA, EMC has raised or advised on more than $2 billion in media and sports transactions. The bank has been at the center of many significant deals, from capital raising and structuring, and broadcast rights negotiations, to stadium financing and mergers and acquisitions.
At EMC, DuPuy will play a key role developing and executing upon opportunities across the sports and media spectrum, particularly in the areas of content rights and mergers and acquisitions.
“Having someone of Bob’s caliber, experience and relationships will be a tremendous advantage for our clients and for EMC as we continue to grow,” said Bob Stanley, co-head of EMC. “His track record speaks for itself and his expertise across every facet of the sports business is unsurpassed.”
DuPuy said, “My experience at MLB was fantastic – a dream job for a baseball fan. I am now ready and excited to return to my professional roots as an attorney serving a wide range of clients facing an increasingly complex series of legal challenges, and I couldn’t imagine doing that anywhere else but Foley.  Fortunately, I have the rare opportunity to play multiple professional roles at this time. “
DuPuy will be based in New York and will also serve as adjunct professor at Cornell University Law School.

Rockwell promotes corporate officers
The board of directors of Milwaukee-based Rockwell Automation Inc. has elected two new corporate officers who will lead the company’s two operating segments effective April 1.
Blake Moret is being promoted to senior vice president of the Control Products and Solutions (CP&S) segment. Frank Kulaszewicz is being promoted to senior vice president of the Architecture and Software (A&S) segment.
Both positions will report to Keith Nosbusch, chairman and chief executive officer of Rockwell Automation.
"Both Frank and Blake are proven leaders in our organization. They are well qualified for these critical roles. Our leadership team is a competitive advantage that differentiates Rockwell Automation. These appointments are a natural next step in our continued globalization, and are consistent with our longer-term succession planning and leadership development processes,” Nosbusch said. “In anticipation that our business will continue to grow more quickly outside the United States — with our fastest growth coming from the Asia Pacific region — Frank will be based in Singapore and will run the A&S segment from there. As we continue to grow our people, our teams, our partners and our business in Asia Pacific, we must ensure we are building our leadership capability and strengthening our cross-cultural competency.”
